Travel teams offer advanced players opportunities to compete against other advanced players throughout Southern Maine. In addition, U12 and above travel coaches are required to complete a 16 hour E Coaching License course. U11 and below travel coaches are required to complete a 4 hour Youth Coaching Module. Both of these courses are administered by the state soccer organization, Soccer Maine.
Expanded Eligibility: USYSA uses the player’s age as of August 1st to determine the age appropriate team to roster player. Effective with the Fall 2013 Travel Season, U-8 players will be eligible to play on a U-9 team.
The allowing of U-8 players is not mandated by SoccerMaine, but a local Club decision. SoccerMaine will NOT offer a U-8 bracket.
Further, this expanded eligibility is exclusively for U-8 USYSA aged players. U-7 players will not be eligible.
Travel players are placed on teams based on tryouts. Tryouts will be held in June; dates and times will be announced at registration.
Travel practices may start in July. Games will continue through mid-October. Typically, teams will play one or two games each Sunday afternoon at locations throughout the Greater York County area. Also, teams may compete in one or more tournaments. U12 and above Teams may qualify for an end of season championship tournament that extends into late-October or early-November.
Travel teams will have to purchase their uniforms as an additional expense. The cost for Jersey, Shorts, and Socks is $65.00 Player will keep this uniform there is an extra cost for customization name depending.
